Why I love Crested Butte

Cross Country In the Rocky Mountains

Crested Butte is a place for lovers of the Outdoor life and that permeates everything about Crested Butte. It is the most friendly and beautiful place I have ever known.

Downtown Crested Butte is a historic city district with numerous bars and restaurants, a cinema, theatre, shops.  It remains true to its history as a mining town, is full of character and is truly fascinating.

I have skied in Europe and elsewhere in the US but for me nothing beats Crested Butte for its character, friendliness and the range of skiing and variety of 'non pisted' skiing.  It is known as the 'Last Great Ski Town'.  Also there are rarely any lines at the lifts - usually straight on (a few minuutes wait in Spring Break!)

Whilst I think nothing beats Crested Butte for the winter, everyone says the summer is even better.  Wild flowers, beautiful scenery, Festivals and endless outdoor activities - see the summer activities and events pages and the winter events and activities pages.  Don't forget the major races and events.

Crested Butte quite simply has the 'feel good factor' and everyone is so friendly.  Combine that with the beauty of the mountains and charm of Crested Butte and you have a perfect place to stay.  Relax and rejuvenate from the stresses of everyday work and life

Crested Butte is accessible from Gunnison (30 miles) , Montrose (92 miles) and Denver (227 miles) via plane and of course road.  Having said that it is a bit too far for weekend crowds hence it never gets too busy or crowded.  Location and Directions
